Forum: GratefulDead Subject: We stopped over in Santa Fe '82.....available in a great sounding Aud!!

Just got finished listening to this show for.... I dunno, the thousandth time??

What a show, one week after the legendary first Frost shows, and the boys were still in top form.

The first set was roaring, 11 songs, with a nice Half Step > Franklin's to open, a rare first set Women Are Smarter, and a classic Ramble on Rose > Let It Grow > Deal finisher.

The second set is even stronger, another 11 song set!! A rollicking Shakedown,> Samson, A Never Trust A Woman with a customized extra verse for Santa Fe, a real nice Prophet> He's Gone > Drums.

After Drums and the show doesn't let up in the least... six songs after drums, how many shows have that?? The Space is really sweet, then we get Throwing Stones (the early version with the chaotic jam near the end, unlike the later ones with the Samson & Delilahesque jam) > GDTRFB > Wheel > A powerful Phil Driven Other One > Wharf Rat > Good Love. On many nights that was two shows worth of Post Drums in one show. With the Don't Ease encore that makes 23 songs.

I'm sure there may be a few other, but I'm not aware of any other post Keith show that has that many songs with the exception of 12-31-81, the '80 accoustic shows and the Dylanshows......

What a great show, and to top it off, it's available here as a GREAT SOUNDING AUD........

WOW!!!!! THIS IS ONE FOR THE AGES!!!

Everyone should have this in their collection!!!

Yea the Downs were a great place for a show. Could basicly play as long as you like. There is nothing else around and no one to complain. Check out Hartford 10-14?-84. I think that's the longest show of the 80's and the 90's Can't remember how many songs though.

YES!!! I just listened to 10-17-82 on Sunday morning, and it is an excellent quality audience recording. As for the performance? It lives up to the setlist.
